PLANTAR WARTS

Plantar warts are non-cancerous growths that appear on the soles of the feet, caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV). They often develop on weight-bearing areas, leading to pain and discomfort while walking. These warts are characterized by small, grainy bumps with tiny black dots (clotted blood vessels) on the surface.

Treatment options include over-the-counter salicylic acid preparations that gradually dissolve the wart, freezing the wart with liquid nitrogen). In persistent cases, a chiropodist may perform minor surgical removal. Keeping feet clean and dry, wearing protective footwear in communal areas, and avoiding direct contact with warts can help prevent the spread of the virus.
